International students


All information concerning internationalstudents can be found in the Department of International Academic Mobility and Education.
University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy admits international students for full and part-time education to all available Bachelor, Master and PhD study programs. Issues connected to the admission, study and administration of international students are arranged by the Bulgarian Higher Educational Act as well as the Study Regulation of UCTM.

1. General Admission Requirements

All applicants must have a diploma for completed secondary (high) education Foreign citizens can apply for study at UCTM connected to:

- Intergovernmental international agreement for educational, scientific and cultural exchange;
- Council of Ministers Decree;
- Paid education.
 Foreign citizens can apply for study at UCTM under the conditions and rules for admission of Bulgarian citizens  if:
- they have a residence permit and a permanent address in Bulgaria;
- they have a legal refugee status;
- they are of Bulgarian nationality


2. Tuition fee

Annual tuition fee is a subject to change according to the Council of Ministers Decree. For the 2016/2017 academic year they are (according ПМС № 240/ 27.04.2017 г.):
Language and specialized course in Bulgarian language   2400 euro;
Bachelor’s programs - Part-time students/Full-time students   2400 euro;
Master’s programs -  Part-time students/Full-time students   3000 euro;
 
Foreign students from the Balkan region (specialty "Chemical Engineering" teaching in German)
 
Bachelor’s programs - Full-time students   1500 euro;
Master’s programs -  Full-time students   1500 euro;
 
Students under the joint admission of foreign students to Francophone Federation "Gay-Lussac" France for specialty "Chemical and Biochemical Engineering" teaching of the French language:
Master’s programs -  Full-time students - 1500 euro;
 
Doctoral programs and Specializations:
 
Full-time students   3500 euro;
Part-time students   2000 euro;
Self-educated students   2000 euro;

 

Tuition fee is  paid in two installments before the beginning of every semester

Students with a dual citizenship, one of which is Bulgarian pay 50 % of the fixed tuition fee.

3. Required documents for applying to UCTM admission:

1. Application form (after a pattern) to the Rector of UCTM for admitting to a particular program, accompanied by a short CV. (download)
2. Legalized copy of the high (secondary) school diploma in the original language.
3. Legalized translation (in Bulgarian or English) of the high (secondary) school diploma
4. Medical certificate issued one month prior to applying. This certificate should be translated in English or Bulgarian
5. Copy of the identity card
6. 3 recent photos (3x4 cm)
7. For Doctoral Degree applicants – list of publications, a letter of motivation and at least 1 recommendation.  



Notes:
1. Documents specified in p. 2 and 3 should be legalized by the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country of origin and legalized by the Consular Department of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria there.
2. Legalization of the medical certificate (p.4) should be done by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country of origin and legalized by the Consular Department of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria there.
3. For the citizens of the Republic of Turkey the legalization of documents specified in p.2, 3 and 4 can be done by the Governor’s certification.

Bachelor Degree programs at UCTM – Academic year starts 15 September.
Master Degree programs at UCTM – Academic year starts in the first half of October
Doctoral studies have a flexible starting date
Documents of admitted applicants go to the Ministry of Education and Science for processing and issuing of  a long term visa ( type D).

5. Living Conditions
Student dormitory rooms are available at a price from 60 to 100 euro. Average cost of living is about 300 euro per month.

 

Foreign students enrolled in UCTM after successfully completed language training in Bulgarian language, which is organized by the "Department for Language Teaching and International Students".
